With the scheduled start of their 2009 Canadian College Baseball Conference regular season less than a week away, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are getting in two final exhibition games. Head Coach Ray Chadwick has announced that two exhibition doubleheaders set for today and tomorrow (Mar 16-17) have been postponed. In exchange for those four games, the WolfPack will indeed be playing Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake Washington. But they will be doing battle in a pair of nine inning exhibition games on Wednesday (March 18).

“The bad weather has really thrown a monkey wrench into preparations for not only us, but all the teams in the CCBC and in the Northwest Community College Athletic Association,” says Chadwick. “We are lucky to get these two games in.”

Chadwick plans to use as many pitchers as he can over the two nine inning games, with each pitching at least an inning.

The WolfPack have had only 11 pre season games this spring.

TRU is set to host the first CCBC league games this weekend (Mar 21-22) at Norbrock Stadium. The defending league champions from Lethbridge—Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs, Kwantlen Polytechnic Eagles of Surrey, BC and the Okanagan College Cubs of Kelowna will be taking part.

The WolfPack are set to play PBA and Kwantlen on Saturday (10 am for the first game, 1230 pm for the second). On Sunday, TRU takes on Kwantlen and Okanagan (at 1230 pm and 3 pm respectively).

Chadwick says a final decision on whether field conditions will allow those games to take place will occur on Wednesday or Thursday morning.
