The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s soccer team ended their four matches in four days pre-season with a tie.  Playing the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades, a CIS Squad,  The WolfPack tied 1-1.

“We led for most of the match,” said TRU co-head coach Sean Wallace.  “It was a good effort considering we had three veterans out with injuries.”

The WolfPack got on the board in the 15 minute mark.  First year forward Andrew Owusu (Kitimat, BC) knocked in a header.    The Cascades didn’t tie the score until the 88 th minute when they put the ball past WolfPack keeper Ethan May (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) on a play which was going against the grain.

“We (co-head coach John Antulov) and myself have some big decisions to make,” stated Wallace. “We have to sit down and do some talking to players who were on the bubble.  We got a chance to see them all play in different positions.”

The WolfPack open up their 2009 BC College Athletic Association regular season Labor day weekend with games Sat (Sept 5) against the  Langara College Falcons . On Sunday (Sept 6) defending provincial and national champion Capilano University Blues. invade Hillside Stadium.

 

GOAL KICKS:  The WolfPack rested Seb Gardner (3rd year, midfielder, Vernon, BC) and Casey Cullen (4 th year, midfielder, Kamloops, BC) with lower body injuries.  Tim Unaebu  (4 th year, forward, Port Coquitlam, BC) was sat because of an upper body injury.

TRU Men will wear “EW” on their uniforms  this season to honor their late manager Errol Wild. A moment of silence will be observed before their first match of the season on Saturday.

WolfPack Mens co-coaches Sean Wallace and John Antulov will join Women’s coach Tom McManus promoting the teams and the season openers Friday (Sept 4) at noon on the CFJC TV Midday program
