BASEBALL OPENS UP ARIZONA SPRING TRAINING WITH VICTORY February 15, 2010

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team weren’t in the ‘giving mood’ on Valentine’s Day. The ‘Pack opened up their 2010 Arizona Spring Training by taking a club team from Arizona State University 12-2. The ‘Pack scored 12 runs on 16 hits while committing only three errors. Their pre-season record is now 3 and 2.
“We swung the bats pretty well,” said TRU Assistant Coach Duaine Bowles “We took advantage of errors and a somewhat overmatched Arizona State Club team.”
Pat Brown (pitcher, 4th year, Trail,BC) was the winning pitcher going six innings, striking out four, walking one and giving up five hits. TRU broke open a 1-1 tie with three runs in the second. They added four in the third, three more in the fourth and a single run in the fifth. Arizona had two runs on six hits and four errors.
CCBC First team all-star Scott Nevison (4th year, outfield, North Vancouver, BC) went 2 for 3 with two singles, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Dillon Morgan (3rd year, first baseman, Camp Verde, Az) was three for three with a single, a run scored and 3 RBI.
TRU continues their Arizona adventure Monday (Feb 15) with a doubleheader against Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona.
